Everything we broadcast is free and always will be. Alongside it we release a small number of limited editions — full concert recordings, immersive spatial mixes, scores and documentary cuts that do not fit a radio hour. Every purchase goes directly into intern stipends, artist fees and studio time.
Why this exists
Free on the air, supported by collectors
Non-commercial radio has no ad revenue by design. Our answer is not a paywall — it is a small catalog of work made for people who want to go deeper. The weekly programs, the archive and the reading lists stay open to everyone, at no cost, forever.

Rights stay with the maker
We license, we do not acquire. Contributors keep ownership of their masters, their writing and their images.

Revenue is program revenue
What remains funds paid internships, equipment, engineering hours and the cost of distributing free episodes to community stations.

The Signal — monthly membership
Members hear releases first, get the full unedited interview archive, and receive one exclusive recording a month. Membership is the steadiest way to fund a paid internship, and it is cancellable at any time.

Three levels
- Listener — $7 / month
- Early access to every release, the members-only newsletter, and your name in the annual thanks if you want it.
- Collector — $25 / month
- Everything above, plus the full unedited interview archive, one exclusive recording a month, and first refusal on limited physical editions.
- Patron — $100 / month
- Everything above, plus a credit on a season of programming, an invitation to recording sessions, and a direct line to the Artistic Director on what we produce next.
- Tax treatment
- Membership includes goods and services, so the deductible portion is the amount above their fair market value. We state that amount on every receipt. A straight donation is fully deductible.
Contributors
If it is your work, you get paid
Musicians, writers, photographers and producers: we license work for release on clear, written terms. You keep your masters and your copyright, you approve the mix and the artwork, and you are paid on a stated split from the first sale. If you have something you think belongs in the catalog, tell us about it.
